Hudson's Bay has closed all of its retail stores across Canada as of June 1, 2025. The final liquidation sales ended on that date, marking the end of the 355-year-old company as a department store chain after it filed for creditor protection in March 2025. Closure: All Hudson's Bay and Saks locations ceased operations on June 1, 2025. Liquidation: Liquidation sales were completed on the same date, with some remaining fixture sales continuing afterward. Layoffs: Over 8,300 employees were laid off as part of the closure. Company Future: While the retail stores have closed, the company continues to be owned by NRDC Equity Partners, which has been selling off leases for some store locations to its creditors.
